Moms Team up To Keep Kids Safe

Four years ago Erin Pospisil disappeared near the playground at Polk Elementary. Her Stepmother Carolyn Pospisil has been searching for her. "She said something to the people in the car and told her friend these guys are going to give me a ride home, I'll see you later. That's the last time we saw her."

Bev Vermace's son Tyler went missing from Cedar Rapids in January. Now the two mothers are teaming up to help kids like Janet Billanueva get ID cards. "They measured how high I was and they saw how much I weighed and I had to put ink on my finger."

After many children received their ID cards...they launched special balloons for Tyler and Erin. With hopes someone will find them and they can come home.

Bev Vermace says this event is more than just releasing balloons and creating I.D. cards. It's about having kids talk to their parents about staying safe. "To raise public awareness, have parents talk to their kids about it."

Janet Billanueva says she will keep her card in a safe place. "It's important to have an ID card so if you get lost they can find you and they can see if you are the right person or not." State Farm Insurance provided the free laminated photo identification cards for Polk students.
