The State of Iowa Department of Public Safety maintains a Missing Person Information Clearinghouse. The Clearinghouse assists in helping to locate missing persons through public awareness and cooperation, and in educating law enforcement officers and the general public about missing person issues.

The list of names is compiled from missing person reports that have been entered into the Iowa On Line Warrants and Articles (I.O.W.A.) computer system, which is utilized by the local law enforcement agencies for exchange of information.
